Abstract:

Objective

To investigate the occurrence of geriatric syndrome in different pension institutions.

Methods

In June 2019, 40 elderly people in a military sanatorium in Beijing and 40 elderly people in a senior nursing home in Beijing were selected, all of them had lived in the institution for more than 3 years. Comprehensive assessment of the elderly was used for screening and comparison, including general situation, lifestyle, health status, disease and medication status, geriatric syndrome/age problems, functional status, and quality of life. T test was used to compare the measurement data, and the χ2 test was used to compare the counting data.

Results

More than 50% of the respondents had abnormal comprehensive evaluation results, including micronutrient status, visual impairment, constipation and weakness. Compared with a senior nursing home in Beijing, the proportion of elderly patients with mini nutritional assessment short form, mini-mental state examination, self-rating depression scale, and sleep disorders, urinary incontinence, constipation, falls and weakness in a military sanatorium in Beijing were significantly lower than those in a senior nursing home in Beijing (χ2=29.463, 4.226, 5.591, 9.899, -, 5.000, 11.168, 5.333, 0, P < 0.05).

Conclusion

The combination of medical care and pension is more conducive to healthy and scientific pension.
