Abstract:
Objective To investigate the efficacy of arthroscopic meniscinoplasty for elderly patients with knee meniscus injury.
Methods A total of 80 elderly patients with knee meniscus injury treated in the Department of Orthopedics of Chongqing Hongren First Hospital during January 2019 and January 2020 were selected into the study. The patients were divided into control group (treated with arthroscopic meniscectomy) and observation group (treated with arthroscopic meniscinoplasty), with 40 cases in each group. Lysholm scores, clinical efficacy and the MOS item short from health survey (SF-36) scores were compared between the two groups. T test was used to compare measurement data, and chi-square test was used to compare technical data.
Results After surgery, Lysholm knee score and SF-36 score in the observation group were significantly higher than those in the control group (t=14.228, 4.817, P < 0.01). The excellent and good rate of surgical treatment in the observation group was significantly higher than that in the control group (χ2=6.542, P < 0.01).
Conclusion Arthroscopic meniscinoplasty has good effect on elderly patients with knee meniscus injury, and is helpful for the recovery of patients’ knee mobility, so is worthy of clinical application.
