Abstract:

Objective

To observe the efficacy of Gushukang granules combined with alendronate sodium in the treatment of diabetic osteoporosis (DOP).

Methods

Eighty patients with DOP admitted to the 903 Hospital of the Chinese PLA Joint Support Force during July 2018 and July 2021 were randomly divided into control group and observation group, with 40 cases in each group. The control group was given alendronate sodium and calcium carbonate D3 tablets, and the observation group was treated with Gushukang in addition. After 6 months of continuous treatment, the visual analogue score (VAS), quality of life Oswestry disability index (ODI) score, the bone mineral density (BMD), the biochemical indexes related to bone metabolism, diabetes control indexes and the occurrence of adverse drug reactions were compared between two groups. Measurement data and count data were compared between groups using t test or χ2 test, respectively.

Results

The total effective rate of the observation group was significantly higher than that of the control group (χ2=8.793, P < 0.05). The incidence of adverse reactions in the observation group was significantly lower than that in the control group (χ2=6.254, P < 0.05). After treatment, the VAS, ODI scores, serum calcium, bone alkaline phosphatase, total typeⅠcollagen amino-terminal prolongating peptide, typeⅠcollagen carboxyl terminal peptide and amino-terminal osteocalcin in the observation group were significantly improved compared with those in the control group (t=7.909, 13.310, 3.535, 3.361, 2.107, 3.211, 5.667; P < 0.05).

Conclusion

Gushukang combined with alendronate sodium is effective and safe for the patients with DOP.
