Abstract:

Hyponatremia is the most common electrolyte disorder encountered in clinical practice, and the incidence of hyponatremia rises with age. 75%~80% of hyponatremia are mild or moderate, of which are chronic and asymptomatic. Only 13~20% get treated. Several studies have demonstrated that the incidence of falls, osteoporosis and fracture is significantly associated with hyponatremia. 1/3 of the Na+ are stored in the bones. Whether Na+ balance disorders can cause changes in bone sodium and adverse consequences need to be studied.

Key words: Hyponatremia, Falls, Osteoporosis, Fracture
