Abstract:
Objective To compare the efficacy of transurethral holmium laser resection of bladder tumor (HOLRBT) and transurethral plasmakinetic resection of the bladder tumor (PKRBT) in the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) in elderly patients.
Methods A retrospective analysis was constructed on 65 elderly patients with BPH from the Second Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Baoji during August 2019 and August 2020. Patients were divided into PKRBT group (32 cases) and HOLRBT group (33 cases) according to different treatments. The operation, clinical efficacy and complications were compared between the two groups. The t test was used for the comparison of measurement data, and the χ2 test was used for the comparison of counting data.
Results The operation time, bladder flushing time and catheter indwelling time in the study group were shorter than those in the control group, and the intraoperative blood loss in the study group was less than that in the control group (t=21.555, 9.679, 14.429, 23.470; P < 0.05). There was no significant difference in maximum urinary flow rate, residual urine and prostate volume between the groups (t=0.767, 1.845, 0.888; P > 0.05). The total incidence of complications in the HOLRBT group was significantly lower than that in the PKRBT group (χ2=3.910, P < 0.05).
Conclusion HOLRBT and PKRBT have the same effect in the treatment of BPH in elderly patients, but the trauma during HOLRBT is more minimal, and the incidence of postoperative complications is low, which is worthy of promotion and application.
