Clinical significance of serum cyclophilin a in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease

Abstract:

Objective

To detect the levels of serum Cyclophilin A (CyPA) and the association between clinical significance in patients with COPD in different stages of the diease.

Methods

Serum CyPA were detected by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay in 108 patients with COPD who were diagnosed in Lianyungang city second people's hospital from 2014 to 2015. Among them, 63 were at acute attacks, 45 were at convalescence stages, and another 60 normal controls were enrolled. Serum C-reactive proteins were measured with immune nephelometry. Multiple sets of sample means were compared by variance analysis, and further performed within groups q test and Pearson correlation analysis.

Results

Serum CyPA level in acute patients, stationary patients and normal controls were (2.45±0.56) ng/ml vs (1.61±0.56) ng/ml vs (0.49±0.15) ng/ml, and had significant difference (F=4.121,P< 0.05). Serum CyPA level in acute patients was significantly higher than that in stationary patients and normal controls (q=3.962、4.079,P <0.01). Serum CyPA level in stationary patients was significantly higher than normal controls (q=4.154,P <0.01). Serum C-reactive protein level in acute patient and stationary patient were (29.52±3.26) mg/L vs (11.35±2.13) mg/l. The serum CyPA level had significant positive correlation with C-reactive protein level (r=0.718,p< 0.01), but not in stationary patient (r=0.000,P> 0.05).

Conclusion

CyPA may contribute to the acute onset of COPD and may be a potential therapeutic target.
