Abstract:

Objective

To explore the effectiveness of elderly experience teaching based on iSIM in improving the aging knowledge of geriatric nurses trainees and improving the attitude of geriatric nurses towards the elderly.

Methods

60 students from Zhejiang Geriatric nursing Training Class in December 2020 were selected. Before and after the elderly experience teaching course based on iSIM, the Chinese version of palmore aging knowledge scale and Chinese version of Kogan geriatric attitude scale were used to investigate the students' aging knowledge level and attitude towards the elderly, respectively.

Results

Before the training, the correct rate of aging knowledge score was 28%~80%, with an average of (52.37±11.66) %, and the attitude score to the elderly was 42~115 (83.02±14.65) points. After the training, the correct rate of aging knowledge score was 28%~84%, with an average of (52.37±11.66) %, and the attitude score to the elderly was 42~115 (83.02±14.65) points. There were significant differences in the scores of aging knowledge and attitude towards the elderly before and after training (t=-3.323, -6.445, P < 0.01).

Conclusion

The training of elderly experience teaching method based on iSIM can improve the level of aging knowledge and the attitude towards the elderly.
