Abstract:
Objective To investigate the clinical efficacy and safety of harmonic FOCUS scalpel in thyroid surgery.
Methods 87 elderly patients with thyroid surgery were divided into the harmonic scalpel group (42 cases) and the electrotome group (45 cases). Compared the operative efficacy (including operation time, hospitalization time, incision length, intraoperative hemorrhage and postoperative drainage) and postoperative complications (postoperative infection, postoperative hemorrhage, one-time hoarseness, permanent hoarseness, temporary hypocalcemia, and permanent hypocalcemia) between the two groups. T test was used for comparison between the two groups.
Results The operating time and hospitalization time in the harmonic scalpel group were significantly shorter than those in the electrotome group (t=14.283, 27.021, P<0.01), the incision length, intraoperative bleeding volume, and postoperative drainage in the harmonic scalpel group were significantly lower than those in the electrotome group (t=19.427, 10.298, 25.034, P<0.01). The incidence of postoperative complications in the harmonic scalpel group was significantly lower than that in the electrotome group (χ2=8.051, P<0.01).
Conclusion Harmonic FOCUS scalpel has better clinical efficacy and safety in elderly thyroid surgery, which is worthy of clinical application.
